Shannon C. McMullan
Shannon is a diverse collection of many skills, passions, and interests that have all come together to make a triangle of careers.
By day, Shannon is the Research and Development Coordinator to CORE studio at Thornton Tomasetti. She manages all special events including AEC Tech, an annual four-day experience that brings together technology leaders in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry.
As a Professional Modern Dancer, Shannon has over 4 years of training in the Isadora Duncan technique, thus establishing herself as a fifth generation Duncan dancer. Her main master teachers are Catherine Gallant, Loretta Thomas, and Beth Jucovy. She performs with NYC-based Dances by Isadora and Long Island-based Dance Visions NY. She has performed in various venues across the country in New York City, Long Island, Austin, and San Francisco.
In April 2018, Shannon received her 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training from Usha Veda Yoga in Brooklyn, New York with an emphasis on Vinyasa. With a strong passion and extensive research in gross anatomy and somatic techniques, such as Bartenieff Fundamentals and Laban Movement Analysis, Shannon aims to combine the two approaches in teaching students a deeper understanding of their bodies in relation to the physical world.
Shannon holds a BFA in Dance from Texas State University and is currently working towards her MA in Arts Leadership and Cultural Management at Colorado State University. When she's not busy with her many careers, she writes a monthly blog where she openly speaks about her experience working in a technical industry as a dancer.
