2019 NACHMO Season

NACHMO (National Choreography Month) challenges choreographers, dancers, and movement enthusiasts to create new dance work each January. We host events, post choreographic prompts to social media, and facilitate ways for participants to meet, network and collaborate. In February we produce shows to share the newly made dances with the public and give choreographers a chance to get structured feedback. We seek to build a strong, active community of dance makers, and we hope you’ll join us!

The 2019 NACHMO Season was filled with a brand new programming calendar full of events for the community to connect and expand their network. Every month from October to December, we hosted a Happy Hour at locations in different boroughs (Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn).

In January, we organized and hosted the tenth annual Kick-Off Party to celebrate the official start of National Choreography Month! This party was a fundraiser to help cover costs to provide accessible performance opportunities for local choreographers. Attendees reconnected with familiar faces and met new dance friends during this festive affair! There was a raffle auction full of dance-related prizes such as Massages, Yoga classes, dance class passes, and books about dance. We concluded the night with a game of Trivia which featured topics on famous historical dance figures, fun facts, and NACHMO facts.
