2016 AEC Tech

Each year, CORE studio of Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. hosts NYC’s AEC Technology Symposium and Hackathon. It is a three-day conference with a full-day of speakers, 30-hour hackathon, and supplementary workshops. The event brings together technology leaders from the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry.
The 2016 AEC Technology Symposium and Hackathon was a success with over 120 attendees and presentations by KPFHKS LineHOKAutodeskSHoP Architects, and Full Stack Modular.

The 27-hour Hackathon involved 100 participants from 20 companies, including architecture, construction, software, and other engineering firms from London, Boston, Washington, Dallas, Toronto, and New York. The Hackathon developed 12 projects that resulted in open-source software releases, with the most successful being Colibri, which is now a part of TT Toolbox, CORE studio’s suite of free and open source plugins for Grasshopper.

A full-day of supplementary workshops were hosted at the Thornton Tomasetti office to learn about parametric tools including Dynamo Mandrill, Honeybee and Butterfly, and Advanced Facade Rationalization. Workshops were hosted by Woods BagotGrimshaw Architects, and Mostapha Roudsari.

The events were successful in part to our generous sponsors at AutodeskGrimshaw Architects, and Woods Bagot.
